My name is Sophie and I am 29 years old and live in London. I’ve had a number of health issues throughout my life, and having been a skinny kid, I suddenly and inexplicably started putting on weight when I was about 8 years old. I also have asthma and was diagnosed with a heart condition when I was 17. After spending most of my life struggling with my weight I was finally diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) when I was 22 and it was explained to me that the PCOS caused me to have insulin resistance. This explained a lot and it was great to finally have a starting point to make some changes but as you can see it’s taken me another 7 years to figure out how to actually use this information!
I’m now on a keto diet and have a much better understanding of my body and how I can be a happier and healthier person. I wanted to share my experiences in the hope that I can help someone else who might be dealing with the things I have had to deal with. Over the years I saw a lot of doctors and was given confusing, incomplete or unhelpful information/advice/diagnoses; I hope that by sharing my experiences and what I have learnt, I can help someone else to get the information they need.
Always happy to answer any questions – just reach out!
